"My Influences?...Thomas Jefferson!...Webb Wilder!" Indispensable answers from an award-winning, world renowned, 19 year veteran of the tattoo industry. "I'm a Libra. That's my sign," he says, observing the tourists passing the shop facade wearing their shiny, prized Mardi Gras beads ... in June? As a native of New Orleans, Henri is used to such things. He has been involved in the ever-changing, underlying culture of New Orleans since the days when he owned Chances, one the first punk/alternative bars on the scene, and also served as the empowering bass player for several local bands.
Since those days, his more recent endeavors to increase the goings-on in the city have included hosting the annual Halloween New Orleans Tattoo Voodoo Convention (as early as 1993), and owning a very prestigious and well maintained shop with a staff that is even more impressive. Starting his career at Doc Don's in Metairie, Henri quickly picked up on some ways to improve the tattoo industry in his city. He established Electric Expressions with the philosophy of making the customer's experience a friendly one, using rigorous sterilization techniques, while making their imagined tattoo fantasy a reality, or better.
Henri's work shows his interest in photorealism and incredible colors. His pieces speak for themselves. Asian themes and wildlife subject matter are some of his most enjoyable pursuits, and he continually challenges himself with new ways to approach tattooing. His favorite color is blue, and he enjoys riding his bike over the parks and moonlit walks on the beach. "I'm a Libra. That's my sign."
